Musgrave Group plc – HR & Talent Management Strategy
Musgrave Group plc is a 135 year old food retail and wholesale business headquartered in Ireland. The business turns over in excess of €4.5 billion through its partnership with entrepreneurial food retailers and foodservice professionals in Ireland, the United Kingdom and Spain. The Musgrave brand portfolio includes: SupaValue, Centra, Mace, DayToday, Daybreak and XL Stop and Shop, in Ireland; Budgens and Londis in the UK; and Dialprix in Spain.
Historically, the organisation had been run along independent, geographical lines of business. Following the appointment of the first Group HR Director, Musgrave were keen to build a strong, collaborative HR team which worked across the geographical and brand boundaries.
Working with the new Group HR Director and the business HR Directors, Jackson Samuel helped to craft the HR strategy through several strategy cycles; worked closely with the Head of Talent on the design and implementation of the group wide talent review process; and assisted with the design of the overall leadership development architecture.
Of late, Musgrave Group has received two prestigious awards from Deloitte in association with Bank of Scotland (Ireland). They have been voted one of the top 25 ‘Best Managed Companies’ in Ireland and were singled out from among the 25 winners to receive a special accolade for exceptional performance in commitment to developing talent within their organisation.
